Our Story

About the Museum

Our History

The Mackay Tiger Moth Museum Inc. was established in 1973 by a passionate group of aviation enthusiasts who recognised the importance of preserving Australia's rich aviation heritage for future generations.

Over five decades, we have grown from a small collection of memorabilia to a respected institution housing vintage aircraft, historical documents, and aviation artefacts that tell the story of flight in Australia.

Why We Exist

Our purpose is simple but vital: to preserve and maintain vintage aircraft and memorabilia for the enjoyment and education of the general public.

We believe that understanding our aviation history helps connect communities, inspires future aviators, and honours those who pioneered the skies above our great nation.

100% Volunteer Run

Every person who keeps our museum running is a dedicated volunteer passionate about aviation heritage.

Registered Non-Profit

We are registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

Community Focused

Our beneficiaries are the general community in Australia who share our love of aviation history.

Responsible Person: The museum is governed by a dedicated committee of volunteers who ensure proper stewardship of all donated funds and resources.
